WOW- and rain date

Yesterday was amazing!! Still cannot believe the high caliber of works. Lots of videos of the performances to post next week. If anyone has photos it would be great if we could see them. Please send them to nuitblanchedevereaux@gmail.com
TODAY's EVENTS:
It did storm around the time that Up Darling was to begin and so they had to postpone their park dances till today- same time and same place (7:30-8:30 North West-ish end of Trinity Bellwoods Park). Also postponed by yesterdays downpour was Iris Fraser's video screening which will happen today after Up Darling from 8:45- 9:45 in the nearby backyard at 951 Dundas - to be entered via the laneway at the bottom of Grace/ top of Trinity Bellwoods. There will be delightful homemade cider available for sale.

it begins...

Hi all,
the Nuit Blanche Devereaux schedule has changed only slightly.
Daniela's second set has been cancelled (sadly!!) and times changed accordingly.
There will be a paper map and schedule that will be available starting at 2:00 at the first location, (Trinity Bellwoods Park- at the Queen entrance gates) and then at every location throughout the events. The map is going to be beautiful and is being hand drawn- probably as I type- by Yuula B.
If for some weird reason it rains- we will tarp things up accordingly. If for some really weird reason it pours- we will improvise... please don't rain!!

SOME ARTIST BIOs

Laura McCoy
laura mcCoy is a sometimes performance artist who also self-publishes her drawings and comics and currently lives and works in toronto. Recently she co-founded (with jesjit gill) an online store for zines called mishmish.ca.

Yuula Benivolski
Born in 1980 in Moscow USSR, grew up in Northern Israel and currently live and work between Toronto and Montreal.
I work with photographs, projection, video and installation. I'm interested in migration, tradition and ritual, comfort, acclimatization and survival, or stories and details from my childhood that shaped my views on important stuff like sex and death or any other transformative events.

Davida Nemeroff
Davida Nemeroff is a Canadian artist working in Los Angeles California. She holds a BFA in Photographic Studies from Ryerson University (2004) and a MFA in Visual Arts from Columbia University (2009.) Nemeroff’s work is an ongoing investigation of the frame. Her work has been exhibited in Canada, The United States, Germany and South Korea.
She is the director of the nocturnal platform Night Gallery in Los Angeles.
Davida Nemeroff is represented by Annie Wharton Los Angeles in the U.S. and by Katharine Mulherin Contemporary Art Projects in Canada.

Alicia Grant
Alicia Grant is a recent graduate from York University’s dance program. Since then she has danced at TransformationDanse (Montreal), EDAM (Vancouver), ImPulsTanz (Vienna) and LaborGras (Berlin). She collaborated on The Residents, a dance/video installation at Casa Loma that was voted #1 Greatest Hit of Nuit Blanche by the Toronto Star. In June, Alicia will premiere the new work Rest or Rant at the Festival of New Dance (St. John’s) in collaboration with Cara Spooner.

Joyce Lau
Joyce Lau is a photo-based artist from Toronto. She is a graduate from Ryerson University’s Image Arts Photography studies program.
Lau’s fascination with iconography is prevalent in all her work. Although humour-driven, Lau’s works are highly pensive and curious renderings of what is often considered “common knowledge.” Consistently themed around artifice, perceived ideas and expectations, and guilt, her works are cynical expressions about mass production and “what-ifs.” Interaction between the viewer and the work is crucial. Whether by size, medium, or mechanism, Lau’s work entices viewers to touch, examine, and to participate.

Adrienne Kammerer
Hailing from the suburban cultural epicenter of Burlington, Ontario. Adrienne was born in 1985. She is a self-taught art school dropout currently residing in Toronto
